The 26th issue of A Magazine Curated By is curated by Peter Do. The young Vietnamese-American was named Creative Director of Helmut Lang earlier 2023 and established his eponymous line in 2018.
With his issue, Peter explores the theme of home and the memories one holds of different places, people, objects and how one remembers. It is his most intimate project to date inviting readers to understand the internal narratives of the shy designer.
Minds from the Vietnamese diaspora, including poet and writer Ocean Vuong and Pulitzer Prize winner Viet Thanh Nguyen lend their words to the issue, while author Mary HK Choi writes about her personal relationship between silence and creativity. French nominee for the upcoming Oscar’s and cult director of The Scent of Green Papaya, Tran Anh Hung photographed a reportage of wet markets in Saigon that accompany recipes from a Vietnamese childhood. Artistic duo Hart+Leshkina shot a photographic essay on the idea of scent and memory. A collaboration with the Musée Guimet explores artefacts from Vietnamese region recontextualised by curator and scholar Chuong-Đài Võ and photographer Nhu Xuan Hua. And finally last year’s Aperture prize winner, art photographer Van-Nhi Nguyen collaborates with Peter when they return to his hometown of Bien Hoa, bringing his designs to places of his childhood past.

ABOUT :
A Magazine Curated By explores the universe of a chosen fashion designer in each issue. Founded in Antwerp in 2001, A Magazine invites a guest curator – an international fashion designer, group or house – to develop innovative, personalised content to express their aesthetic and cultural values in a unique, collectible document. Each issue celebrates this designer’s ethos: their people, their passion, their stories, emotions, fascinations, spontaneity and authenticity. Every A Magazine Curated By is a new story waiting to be told.
